Book-as-Art 1: North African Textures
Completed in 2023, this book is a vibrant collection of gel prints, decorative papers, and sewn elements, inspired by the deserts of Morocco. Many pages feature intricate stitching, with some sewn together before being bound in a traditional style. The book showcases rich North African colors, imagery, fabrics, and textiles. It is wrapped in delicate lace, secured with an antique button, and adorned with kuba cloth and fringe along the edges, evoking the essence of North African artistry.
Book-as-Art 2: Field Notes in Italy
Created in 2024, this book resembles a fictional field journal discovered in an Italian flea market. Highlights include vintage embroidered flowers, tea-stained pages for an aged effect, and pressed leaves preserved under transparencies to capture an authentic atmosphere. The book incorporates vintage papers from France and Italy, along with old journal ledger pages, many of which are dyed and rusted for a weathered look. The cover is wrapped in lace, with a sari silk ribbon serving as a closure.
