August is a fabulous month to eco-dye in the desert, there is plenty of air conditioning and cold drinks inside while the dye pots and Arizona sun turn your papers into amazing wonders!

This 3 day work shop will explore using fabrics and papers to stain and mark creating richly textured surfaces, each a treasure of visual vocabulary.

On day 1 we will create some gelli printed papers to add to our dye pots, We will also be using many various papers and ephemera in this process

I will demonstrate my unique approach to eco-staining papers and fabrics with inks and dyes in vats of black tea, coffee and avocado pits with lots of rusty bits, on day 2!

And finally on day 3 These amazing prints will be work into bundles that are ready for future projects and small books!

Supply List:

gel plate (any size that you may already have)

brayer

Speedball woodblock inks any colors you prefer at least 4-5 different colors and or any other paints you’ve been working with

Posca pens and/or acrylic paint markers

masking tape

string for wrapping bundles

sari silk ribbon

book binding needle and wax thread

ruler

scissors

a variety of your own papers, meaningful ephemera, persona photos, original or laser copies, images from books or magazines, small envelopes, vintage book pages etc.

rusty bits

natural fabrics for dyeing, cotton, linen, silks (these can be sourced from clothes, vintage table cloths and napkins)

cotton paper for printing

Asian calligraphy paper

And of course the list is not limited to these supplies, please bring the things that you love to use and are inspired by when you are creating!
