Gel Printing with a rare bird

I’ve been lucky as an artist to have a career that has spanned 3 decades. I’ve explored and perfected many mediums from Printmaking, Paper Making & Book Arts, to Textile, Fashion and Jewelry. I’ve been published in magazines and worked with big box stores such as Target and philanthropic organizations such as UNICEF.

With all that I have achieved, I’m excited to discover that the sky isn’t even close to the limit and there are always new heights to explore. As an artist that has put in the work over many years, taught at numerous institutes of higher education around the country and hosted workshops worldwide I am so humbled and honored to have my first ever step by step book published by world renowned publishing house Schifer Publishing!

Ten years ago I found my self exploring a new monoprinting tool called the Gelli Arts Gel Plate. As a professionally trained printmaker I was thrilled to come across a tool that made this process accessible to artist in their home studios. Monoprinting is a technique that creates unique “one off” works of art that look “printed” opposed to painted or done by hand. With the Gel Plate creatives could explore a monoprinting process called Gelli Printing right from the comfort of their home.

I began incorporating these prints into my daily art practices often using them in Collage and Art Journaling. I quickly found my rhythm and developed my own style with an emphasis on a Grunge/Distress aesthetic. I also developed my own set of unique techniques using the Gel Plate that separated me from other artist using the same medium. A decade of gelli Printing led to an organic relationship with Gelli Arts that earned me a spot on their Design Team. My unique perspective in this space, one of a kind art style, and my collective community of over 80k creatives ultimately culminated in the publishing of the first ever Step by Step tutorial Book to be published on the topic of Gelli Printing!

I will not only cover the basics of Gelli Printing but also introduce the world to many of my iconic techniques that highlight my Grunge/Distress aesthetic as an artist. I am honored to be the first artist to introduce this process in book format, a medium that is dear to me as a Master Book Artist myself!
