Come celebrate with me the release of my book, Gel Plate Printing for Mixed-Media Art: Taking Your Visual Storytelling to a New Level... by Schiffer Publishing!

In this 3-day mixed media work- shop at Kat Kirby’s amazing home studio in Prescott, AZ we will create gel prints, glue gun masks, mark making on paper and books. We’ll decode the beauty of language in ancient symbols using the
inspiring shapes that activate our psyche and capture the creative voice in images to create glue gun stencils/masks. We will explore gel printing techniques using block printing inks to develop monoprints that are lusciously etheric and full of texture reminiscent of traditional printmaking.

As we work together, this workshop will be a gel printers heaven, as we create endless piles of prints that we will work into a book structure that captures the essence of the long slow days that we spend together enjoying art and our visual dialogues.

We will walk the Hummingbird Labyrinth at Kat’s Studio share stories and refine our own ArtMythos in our visual dialogues.

Supply List:

gel plate (any size that you may already have)

brayer

Speedball woodblock inks any colors you prefer at least 4-5 different colors and or any other paints you’ve been working with

Posca pens and/or acrylic paint markers

masking tape

string

book binding needle and wax thread

ruler

scissors

a variety of your own papers, meaningful ephemera, persona photos, original or laser copies, images from books or magazines, small envelopes, vintage book pages etc.

natural fabrics , cotton, linen, silks (these can be sourced from clothes, vintage table cloths and napkins)

cotton paper for printing

Asian calligraphy paper

Tracing paper

And of course the list is not limited to these supplies, please bring the things that you love to use and are inspired by when you are creating!
