Sumi Brush
Painting

Sumi Brush Painting, 2024 — Black ink on paper

Sumi Brush Painting represents the most distilled form of my practice — black ink on paper, guided by instinct and breath. Using a flat brush, I create gestural compositions driven by the raw power of line. Each stroke captures an internal cacophony — an orchestration of movement, tension, and release. These pieces are direct, spontaneous, and rooted in the traditions of sumi ink painting, yet they break free into something looser and more primal. Occasional flashes of red sumi ink punctuate the field, offering contrast and symbolic resonance within the monochrome terrain.

Intuitive
Scripting

Intuitive Scripting, 2024 — Ink on paper

Intuitive Scripting is the foundation of my brushwork — a movement rooted in emotion, energy, and the deep pull of memory. Each stroke is a response, a gesture made in conversation with something ancient, perhaps even mystical. The ink moves fluidly across the page in curving, sensuous lines that are both elegant and expressive, forming a visual language that feels simultaneously familiar and forgotten. There’s a generosity in the mark-making, a poetic fullness that invites the viewer into a shared space of rhythm, intuition, and visual storytelling.

Monoprints

Monoprinting, 2024 — Gel print, mixed media

Monoprinting is where my love for layered storytelling meets the physicality of printmaking. Using traditional gel print inks, I build gossamer veils of color and form — often layering 12 to 15 impressions to create depth, texture, and resonance. Each print is a meditation in process, composed of symbolic masks and shapes drawn from my personal visual language: echoes of Indigenous glyphs, sacred directions, and archetypes from Paleolithic goddess cultures. Recurring figures — owl, fish, butterfly, bull — embody cycles of femininity and nature’s regenerative wisdom. These works carry the weight of ritual, honoring the passage between maiden, mother, and crone, as well as the eternal rhythm of life, death, and renewal.

“In Red”
Series

In Red Series, 2024 — Red sumi on monoprint

“In Red” is a series that explores the tension between surface and symbol through the use of traditional red sumi ink. Set against monoprinted backgrounds, these paintings draw on my foundational sumi brush techniques while introducing a heightened visual contrast. The red marks assert themselves — vivid, intentional, and symbolic — emerging from textured fields to initiate a striking dialogue between foreground and background. Each stroke becomes a moment of emphasis, a rhythmic pulse within the composition that carries emotional weight and the energy of sacred mark-making.

Graffiti
Brush Painting

Graffiti Brush Painting, 2024 — Spray, marker, ink

Graffiti Script merges the fluid elegance of calligraphy with the raw energy of urban mark-making. Using traditional street materials — spray paint, paint markers, and inks — I transpose my intuitive scripting into a new context where surface, pressure, and scale shift the nature of the line itself. The result is a gestural, visceral language that bridges the ancient and the contemporary, evoking the immediacy of street expression while maintaining the sensitivity of brush and hand. These works speak in a dialect of modern glyphs, layered symbols, and visual rhythm — an urban mythology written in paint.

“Blots”
Series

Blots Series, 2024 — Ink on paper

“BLOTS” is a series born from my childhood fascination with inkblots — those psychological Rorschach images that invite the viewer into an open-ended visual dialogue. Each blot is a spontaneous imprint, yet it carries a deeper psychic charge, calling forth pre-linguistic associations that speak directly to the subconscious. These forms bypass logic and ignite something primal — memories, archetypes, internal landscapes — all without the use of words. In this work, I explore the power of ambiguity and reflection, where meaning isn’t fixed but constantly shifting, shaped by the viewer’s own emotional and psychological terrain. The BLOTS become mirrors, revealing what is often forgotten but always present.

Book
As Art

Book As Art Series, 2024 — Artist’s books

Book As Art is the vessel through which my storytelling finds its most intimate and enduring form. As a master bookmaker of over 30 years, I use the book not only as a container for visual language, but as a sacred space where symbols, scripts, and images converse across time and culture. These works draw from Indigenous traditions and universal pictographic roots, reflecting a deep longing for a shared language that once transcended borders. The familiar form of the book invites quiet participation — held in the hands, opened in solitude, it becomes a personal encounter with myth, memory, and meaning. Each page turns like a whispered conversation between past and present.
